French Braidin' in the USA

Every season there's a braid trend that sweeps the pages of the magazines and blogs.  When I spotted my best friend's french braided up-do at our friend's wedding, I snapped her photo quicker than you could say, "crazed paparazzi."  If the return of the braid marks the return of warm weather, I am so ready to rock this style.  Here's a few refresher videos on french braids:
French braids
How glamorous is this look?  Her french braid looked like a beautiful headband, starting on the left side and wrapping into a ponytail in the back right.  Then she twisted the rest up into a cool bun and gave some volume to the area behind the braid.  OK, she may not have done this on her own, but what a great inspiration photo to bring to your stylist!  Classy, girly and fun.  I'm about to start practicing!

Happy Friday!

Um, you're really pretty.

Anyway, not much to see here, midterms all week.
Now they're done and I can breathe again.
If you're a voyeur, come check out what's inside my bag over at Sweet Nothings blog.  And, by the way, if you're a blogger, you're definitely a voyeur.  Period.

Oh, and be sure to have a fabulous weekend!

Hermès Editorial circa 2007

s/s 2007
Shockingly stunning, yet wildly unrealistic.
I always bring my Birkin and giant scarves camping, don't you?
And wear my scarf as a top whilst sweating in the sun.
When I see $700 scarves, I automatically think, "Barnware!!"
It does feel incredibly glamorous, though...
It must be some form of sacrilege to bring a Birkin to the beach.

Gisele + A Fabulous $400 Giveaway!

First: For your viewing pleasure, I bring you Gisele, straight off the pages of VOGUE, with her new bebe. I don't know about you, but lounging in a Bottega Veneta corseted bustier, drinking a piña colada spells good times to me!

Second: My two friends, Melanie and Susanne, are starting this amazing new fashion ecommerce website which is similar to sample sale sites like Gilt, but shaken up a bit, with a twist. They're trying to refine their idea and get feedback from friends and family. I've heard the details of their idea and I know it's gonna to be the next big thing.

When you have time this weekend, fill out this 4 page survey {it's really quick and easy}. They will choose one participant to win a $400 gift card to any retailer of their choice! And I KNOW you all love to shop...

Third: If you're in NYC this weekend, my friend Dan is sponsoring an amazing fundraising event for Peace Players International, at Columbia University. It's a basketball game: The Harlem Wizards vs. The Safe Haven All Stars, Sunday, March 21st at 6:30pm. Not to mention, it's at my alma mater...woot woot!
Come one, come all! Here's the info and link:

Anyway, back to our Belle de Jour, Gisele, as featured in this month's US Vogue. I'm a big fan, are you?
Also, let's acknowledge the fact that she might not be human, her body is 100% back to normal and it seems like she just gave birth.
Happy Weekending fabulous readers!
xoxo

Spring Hair Style

I'd like to introduce you to my new hairstyle.  I recently spotted Jennifer Aniston wearing the absolute latest in hair accessories, the bobby pin, and immediately fell in love.  I let my hair get a little dirty {post one day wash} and parted it the opposite way it falls naturally.  Then I grabbed the upper, side portion of the crown and pinned it right in place.
Voilà!

flat out fabulous

miu miu, $465, saks

I love flats.  I could wear them everyday.  I know there's some haters out there {Liz}, but seriously, ladies, how many times can you wear uncomfortable heels?  When I come home from a day in flats, I'm ten times less exhausted than when I fight through the day in heels...thus, my heart belongs to flats.  Here are some of the ones I've been dreaming about in class and loving.  Which are your faves?

Coco?

Last week, I mentioned the movies I'd be watching over the weekend.  Coco Avant Chanel...what a beautiful piece of filmery.  Ok, that's not a word, but it sounded nice, rolls off the tongue.  Anyway, after watching this flick, a must see, I had a new appreciation for the tousled up do.  Classic, elegant and understated.  Coco wore it best, or Audrey for that matter, but it doesn't mean we shouldn't try.  Pair it with a simple and classy makeup scheme, a navy & white striped top, a khaki trench and your favorite jeans.  I'd probably finish it off with low top converse, but you may also wear espadrilles, ballerina flats or heels.  Nothing spells c-h-i-c like easy glamour...or just, C-h-a-n-e-l.

Have a whimsical weekend!

Dear model,
I'm obsessed with your hair.
xoxo,
TBF

As part of my weekly Friday ritual, I rented movies from my local library.  This time I took out:
1. Coco avant Chanel {So excited to see...love Audrey Tatou}
2. Bright Star {I'm dying to see this....the costumes....the dreamy characters}
3. The Proposal {I really dislike Sandra Bullock, but heard this was decent...hopefully I won't watch it}

It's raining like the plague in NY this weekend. It looks like the best idea is to stay in, watch movies, drink hot cocoa and snuggle under warm blankets.  What movies are you renting this weekend?
