That Thing

the fashionist black
There is such an incredible skill behind street photography. I recently watched the Scott Schuman video and found it totally intoxicating. It can be seen here. The man behind the camera said:

You never know what it is, that thing that draws you to that person. It seems odd, but it's almost like going out there and letting yourself fall in love a little bit everyday, be seduced everyday.

Oh, "that thing." That magical, irresistible thing. Also, the idea of "falling in love" with a person for a split second, long enough to snap a photo and walk away. Isn't that so poetic & romantic? The man's such a genius. I think one of my favorite parts of blogging is the idea that from your computer, wherever you are in the world, you now have access into the minds of millions of others, everywhere. Access to their creativity, humor, wit & intelligence. Their fashions, tastes & individuality. What differentiates someone from someone else. Incredible.

Because the internet, is the world shrinking? Are we all becoming too homogenized? Milan hasn't changed, Paris hasn't changed, New York hasn't changed. So I don't think it's really homogenized anything, but I do think it's given us what I like to call a digital park bench...before you were really limited to the people you could see right there at your park...really, the whole world's open to you now.

And isn't that just amazing?

Joanna Hillman: fashion editor by day...

hbz-ARAM-GREEN-joanna-diaries-121110
How adorable is Joanna Hillman? She's Bazaar's senior fashion market editor and she just embarked upon a fabulous fashion adventure.  "30 days of style" is a peek into her outfits {which are AMAZING}, as documented on a teeny, tiny site called Harper's Bazaar. No big deal. I'm obsessed with how cute she manages to look while braving the ridiculously chilly NYC streets. Her outfits are one thing, but how much do we love her braid+wayfarers+redlip combo? I feel a ton cooler knowing she and I share the same taste in coats {I have #4} and bags {I have #2 in black, but the YSL downtown is phenom in army green}. OK, so go entertain yourself and check out the rest of her looks. Also, want to wish you all a GREAT weekend. This is my absolute favorite time of the year. My 4 year wedding anniversary is next Thursday and I'm really, really, really looking forward to it. Besos..........xoxoxo

What's Her Deal? {A fun little contest...}

Being that I have little to no time to compile blog posts these days {baby + finals}, I thought I'd leave today's creativity to you lovely readers. I've been saving this image on my computer for a little while and find myself going back to look at it repeatedly. Do you ever find yourself staring at people and wondering what's up with them? {Where are they going? Where have they been? Who are they meeting and what do they do?} Of course you do. Don't even lie. Well, doesn't she look like someone you'd want to know more about?  Here's a little challenge for you on this chilly Friday...

Your mission:
Write + submit a story to accompany this photo. It can be anything at all, creativity is all that matters. I will choose the winner and as a holiday gift, will do a *sponsored blog post* about your blog or etsy shop! Bribery always works.
Fun?
Fun!

Now go!
Good luck readers, show me whatcha got!
{If this is successful, I may make this into a weekly thing  :  ) }

we like leopard: a multidisciplanary approach

how will you incorporate the pattern into your life this season?
i'm on the hunt for a thick, puffy leopard headband...
paired with big hair, reminiscent of cindy mancini in, "can't buy me love."
the 80s are back, right?

E A S Y...not sleezy.

I love uncomplicated styles that are easy to look at and easy to recreate.
The looks are polished, yet casual.  Chic, yet comfortable.
Want some effortless glamour?
Just take notes from this bunch.
And do stare.

Spring has S P R U N G

Photos like these remind me how excited I am to start dressing for Spring.  Punchy accessories, bright colored dresses...and schnitzel with noodle.  What Spring trends are you going to adopt in the next few weeks?
