Was up WAY too late watching the Oscars and do not have much time to post this morning.  Wanted to check in and see what you thought of the show last night...I was definitely underwhelmed, amused at times, but generally bored, sometimes left feeling pretty awkward.  I miss the days when the Oscars were super classy and getting an award felt less like an MTV award!  I did love Anne Hathaway's dresses {there were either 7 or 8} and while I didn't love the overall repartee between the hosts, her ease on stage made it worthwhile.  Franco's quirkiness threw me through a loop.  Here are some faves from last night.

These are so ridiculously random, but I went through my "blog pics" folder & had to post them.  I am SO in love with the little boy Barbour jacket from J. Crew, I think I need to order this for my son, even though it will be YEARS before he can wear it!  It's also from my new favorite site: "kids dressed better than you."  Nothing, I tell you, is cuter!

Spotted: Jessica Alba, Paris

While Jessica Alba's style may not always move mountains, I love her simple, chic look for the Paris shows.  Not to mention, I'm all about her hairstyle right now.  My hair grew and grew and grew while I was pregnant.  Fast forward to now and what I'm left with is an out of control rat's nest that's typically in an elegant chignon a pretty sloppy bun.  Appealing!  Thus, I'm slowly considering a shorter, more polished look for 2011.  What do we think?

Tom Ford SS 11 Collection

After a six year hiatus, Tom Ford produced what may be remembered as the most fabulously secretive show in runway history.  Quite reminiscent of Halston in its heyday, he dressed everyone from Karlie to Abby, Karen Elson to Natalia & Beyonce to Lauren Hutton.  While it seems that the only attendees included the secret society of the fashion community, they too needed an egg to enter.  And if you get that reference, we're automatically best friends.  Photos from this private show are finally available online at his site.  Some of his looks are also featured in this month's US Vogue, worn by none other than his muse's daughter, Julia Restoin Roitfeld.

Oh, and close your mouth my dears, you're drooling.

Clemence for GAP, 2008

I'm happy to say that I rang in the new year with an intense acupressure massage and a biannual pretty pedicure {Sole Mate by Essie}.  The spa was fully stocked with the "best of 2008" in magazines {nothing else} and while I'd already read them all, I skimmed VOGUE because it was the September issue.  While the cover struck me as horrendous, I read a pretty great article by Plum Sykes about Jemma Kidd.  Anyway, what I loved most was this Gap ad with Clemence.  Do you remember these?  I didn't have a blog back then {Crazy, right?  It feels like I've always had one}, but if I did, I surely would have posted these back then.

Carey Mulligan: Elle UK 01.11

Oh, how much do we love us some Carey Mulligan? I've got to see her new film somehow. Sometimes I buy magazines just to read about the starlet on the cover. This month's article in US Vogue about Natalie Portman was amazing. Did you know she's like BFF with Jeanine Lobell, creator of Stila? After Lobell sold Stila, she traveled with her family (Anthony Edwards + kids) around the world and Natalie met them for 5 weeks in China. Just when you don't think she could get any cooler.  Poof.  She is.

Thought this article would be worth reading...sorry the print's so small, but at least you don't have to go through the trouble of trying to find the British version of Elle to read it. Let me know your thoughts if you get through it!

Here's a little Alexa for you on this horrid Monday morning. It's freezing as all hell in New York and my three and a half month old refuses to wear a hat. Is that even OK? Tonight I have my last project/presentation and then I'm taking a short break and gonna be back to blogging hard core in 2011. Looking forward to ringing in the new year with the three b's: bottles + burp cloths + bubbly. Is there even a way to fake glamorous when your shoulders are wet from teeny weeny baby bubbles and you're up to your ears in wet diapers? Maybe I'll wear a sequined tank to honor the occasion. I give up! How 'bout you guys? What are your plans for the holidays + new year's? Whatcha doin', whereya goin' and most importantly, whatcha wearin'? Besos...

DIOR Opening: 57th Street, NYC

Agents Provocateurs

The Wall Street Journal Magazine, WSJ, got a complete makeover courtesy of one Deborah Needleman, former editor of Domino Magazine. We just started getting it delivered at home and I died over this photoshoot. I tore out the first two photos as hair/makeup inspiration, so simple and natural, yet beautiful. Also, considering I'm obsessed with all things Black Swan, it doesn't hurt that Vincent Cassel graced the cover. I really enjoyed the rest of the mag, it was very nicely done. Good job, Deb! Keep it up!
