Oscars 2011

{Best outfit change: Anne in Oscar de la Renta}
Was up WAY too late watching the Oscars and do not have much time to post this morning.  Wanted to check in and see what you thought of the show last night...I was definitely underwhelmed, amused at times, but generally bored, sometimes left feeling pretty awkward.  I miss the days when the Oscars were super classy and getting an award felt less like an MTV award!  I did love Anne Hathaway's dresses {there were either 7 or 8} and while I didn't love the overall repartee between the hosts, her ease on stage made it worthwhile.  Franco's quirkiness threw me through a loop.  Here are some faves from last night.

{Best bump covering: Natalie in Rodarte...I LOVED her speech, "Benjamin, my love."}
gwynethpaltrow002
{Most tweeted dress: Gwyn in Calvin Klein Collection- love or hate?}

{Most glamorous overall: Jennifer Lawrence in Calvin Klein Collection}

Thoughts on this year's show?  Celine Dion singing during the deaths?  Oprah's boobs?  James Franco as Marilyn?  Billy Crystal should have taken over?  Mila & Justin for Oscar hosts in 2012?

kids dressed tmblr barbour at j crew
These are so ridiculously random, but I went through my "blog pics" folder & had to post them.  I am SO in love with the little boy Barbour jacket from J. Crew, I think I need to order this for my son, even though it will be YEARS before he can wear it!  It's also from my new favorite site: "kids dressed better than you."  Nothing, I tell you, is cuter!

{We visited Big Sur, CA last year & it's the most magical place.  We were surrounded by beautiful mountains, forests and the most incredible fog lifting from the Pacific as we ate burgers and fries at Nepenthe.  It's a must visit in my book.}

Feeling French: Sessun

37437653
Let me introduce you to my favorite lookbook of perhaps, ever. Sessun has successfully translated "easy chic" into an entire line and has won my heart in the process. The "French girl" feel quite literally comes to life in this editorial, whimsy abounds.  And if that's not enough, the music on the Sessun site rocks, hardcore. "Fade Into You" by Mazzy Star...ummm, yeah :  )

*Also, I'm totally crushing on the easy peasy bangs on the redhead. Her hair color is quite covetable as well. I might just bring these photos with me to my next trip to the salon. Just a thought.*

London Fashion Week: Mulberry Fall 2011

mulberryfall9
Mulberry channeled "The Enchanted Forest" both on the runway and through a lush, green scene.  The whimsy created by the soft nature prints and the high knee socks is totally inspiring me to frolic in some woods.  Front row fixtures Alexa, Poppy & Olivia were obviously in attendance.  London's heatin' up!

The Old Couple By The Sea

selby3
My Great Aunt Anna & Uncle Buddy lived by the sea. They had a white, stucco house with a white, stucco fence and their next door neighbor to the left was the beach. My uncle was a podiatrist who swam laps in the ocean in all kinds of weather. My aunt was a fiery, redhead with a big red, lipsticked smile. I can still hear her voice now. Their home was magical: it had all the hiding places my house lacked and contained trinkets and tchotchkes galore. A kid could get lost there, easily.
selby2
Beach people live by a different code from us suburb folk. When I saw Eileen & Mark's Venice Beach home on The Selby, I was immediately brought back to my younger days exploring my Uncle Buddy's house. I'd just love to get lost here, exploring their books, wall hangings & rich designs. While my family hasn't really spoken to them in a while, I'd like to think Buddy's still swimming the ocean while Anna's carefully lining her lips to host some friends for tea.
