Guest Post at Ciao Chessa!

Hope everyone had a very Happy 4th! We enjoyed summer salads on the beach of the Long Island Sound and feasted on a carnivorous BBQ of gargantous proportions. While the closest I came to fireworks was watching them on tv, we thoroughly enjoyed the DC and NYC displays! Today I'm guest blogging for one of my close friends who recently became a new mommy to a beautiful little girl, Lucia Isabella.  Come visit me at Monica's photography blog, Ciao, Chessa! Be sure to take some time to look around!

An Unlikely Pair

Priscilla Rattazzi's photography lights up my life.
Her latest book, "Luna & Lola" is due out this fall and is
filled with photos of her two adorable dogs.
Sorta like DeVito and Schwarzenegger in Twins, no?
They remind me of my dog, Parker & his two dachshund girlfriends, Lola & Sadie.
Whenever we run into them, Lola kisses his face incessantly and I just melt.
Don't you just wanna cuddle with these two all day long?
Have a lovely weekend, dear readers.
If you haven't already entered, see the post from yesterday to win a
hair straightener worth $250.  I will pick the winner next Friday!

Escape to Paris with Monica!

Ciao, TBF readers! I'm Monica, aka Chessa from Ciao, Chessa! I'm so excited to be guest blogging here today while our Beauty Guru, Ms. TBF, is away. Of course I'm insanely jealous that she's off sunning herself in Hawaii and I'm here freezing in New York City but I'm thrilled that she is on a much-deserved vacay.

One of my favorite modes of procrastination, other than stalking photography websites and fun, stylish blogs like TBF, is to dream about travel. My number one indulgence is taking vacations and luckily I married a guy who shares this passion. Ever since I was a girl I've loved to look at maps and study cities and roads in different countries. I'm the girl with the guidebook in her face reading about the big sites and the hidden gems, the girl looking for the fabulous must-try restaurant, trying local food and drink and looking for the fabulous shops. And, of all the places I've visited, the one that we keep going back to is my beloved Paris. I left a piece of my heart there when I studied and lived there while I was in college. I've never quite been the same..Paris does that to you.

Of course it's freezing there right now too but I'm dreaming of sipping a cafe au lait (and if I wasn't pregnant a delicious, pre-dinner Kir Royal) in a lost corner of the Latin Quarter, wandering around the Île Saint-Louis enjoying a Berthillon sorbet, lounging in the Champ de Mars and looking up at the Eiffel Tower, eating and shopping my way through Les Champs d'Elysees and the Latin Quarter, strolling through the Jardin des Tuileries, people watching pretty much anywhere, strolling along the Seine, window shopping in the Place Vendome, the Galleries Lafayette, and the trendy Marais and walking through the long halls of the Louvre and the Musee d'Orsay or the Picasso Museum, my favorite museum in my favorite foreign city. Le sigh...

What about you, dolls? What's your favorite destination and procrastination go-to place?

All images taken by me on previous trips to the City of Light.

Meet Mama Bette!

Before I was a thought, my mom was a carefree 20 something in the 70s.
She wore bell bottoms, traveled around the world & drank diet Tab.
She spent summers in Fire Island, warding off countless suitors.

She listened to The Beatles & The Supremes and sported a "fall."
She wore fabulous pants & mod flower sandals!

She cruised around town in her first car, the Ford Falcon.
She would later know Ford as: "Fix Or Repair Daily."
I can't even imagine parallel parking this thing.

She liked to take pictures & wear dark tights.
Just like her daughter does...(hmmm).

I guess some things just run in the family.

Mom, this video's all for you!
Thanks for everything.

A Site to be Seen {Citizen Couture}

I recently discovered the blog, Citizen Couture, by Jason, an ex-accountant turned brilliant fashion photographer. Inspired by The Sartorialist, he began his project during fashion week & has captured many stunning photos to date. I suggest subscribing to his feed.

Isn't her makeup understated yet fierce?
