Laura Ling & Euna Lee Detained: 12 Year Sentence to Hard Labor

Everything else seemed insignificant today. I can't stop thinking about what it must be like for the families of these two women. How heart wrenching it must be to know your daughter, sister, mother or wife is so alone & so scared.

Read the full story here at NY Times & here at CNN.

For now, all we can do is keep them in our prayers & raise awareness.

Here are some additional links to CNN videos:

I cannot imagine what they are going through, brings tears to my eyes and a heavy heart:-(
Although, I was watching the Today Show and New Mexico's Bill Richardson said that now that they are sentenced, they can begin with negotiations... They were kind of at a stand still before. Nevertheless, it is tragic to say the least...

oh my god, this is horrific. thank you for sharing this...i'm going to sign the petition and watch the other links you've provided. i hope we step up in some way to free these women. it looks as though they've stepped into the middle of something horrible and i have no doubt that north korea will use this incident to try to get something bigger from the u.s. this is very very sad.

I've read it today and it's horrble and sad that in 2009 things like that happens where are the freedom and human rights?

North Korea is a barbaric regime and its "Dear Leader" is an unpredictable psychotic lunatic. The North Korean government has made a habit of trying to extort assistance from other nations, especially the United States. These two reporters are simply being held for ransom. That's what this is all about. North Korea wants a 'free lunch' via American tax payers because the Korean people are starving in their huts. The average North Korean is 3" to 4" shorter than his South Korean counterpart due to widespread malnutrition. God only knows how horrific the conditions must be inside their "labor camps". We are getting very close to the moment when the diplomats finally realize that talking achieves nothing with these people.
