Hypothesis Proven: {Gwyneth as Goddess}

Last night we watched the film, Two Lovers {I half liked it, but mostly for the scenes of Brooklyn & her hair}, starring Gwyneth Paltrow & Joaquin Phoenix. During the movie, it occurred to me that while Gwyn has had the opportunity to play a number of different roles over the years, she has truly been typecast. In actuality, she only gets to play one role. The part that I'm describing is, "total-on-screen-goddess." Her leading men don't just fall in love with her...they fall head-over-heels, crazy out of their minds in love with her. In many cases, she becomes their reason for being. Is this realistic? Would you even want someone to go capital-C, CRAZY over you?

Poor Gwyn. It must be really hard to try to break out of this box. My darlings, could you ever get tired of being worshiped?

The playfully innocent:
Wendy in Hook {1991}
The hopeless romantic:
Emma Woodhouse in Emma {1996}
The enchanting muse:
Estella in Great Expectations {1998}
The deceitfully wise:
Emily Bradford Taylor in A Perfect Murder {1998}
The actor turned actress:
Viola De Lesseps in Shakespeare in Love {1998}
The privileged & glamorous:
Marge Sherwood in The Talented Mr. Ripley {1999}
The quirky & misunderstood:
Margot Tenenbaum in The Royal Tenenbaums {2001}
The beautiful, yet lost:
Michelle Rausch in Two Lovers {2008}

don't hate me but i find her very dull which is why she's so good at playing one role. she's pretty, don't get me wrong, but i don't know, i'm not that drawn to her. i guess i need more excitement out of my ladies ;)

I think she's a little zzzzzz but maybe I'm just jealous hahaha. I wonder what she's like in real life, I just want to mess up her hair a little and do a shot. She is stunning though, there is no argument there!

Happy Monday!! XO

so true and so funny. I just watched the Talented Mr. Ripley for the 110th time this weekend.

I'm sure she's not too upset about being typecast. My husband STILL thinks Charlize Theron is hideous from when she did Monster. So, I wouldn't want to be stuck in that rut. I think she's playing it safe and smart. $$ :)

I'm not a Gwyn fanatic but I did heart her in Emma. And I rather enjoy the hub's adoration. Is this wrong? Ah ha
