The Old Couple By The Sea

selby3
My Great Aunt Anna & Uncle Buddy lived by the sea. They had a white, stucco house with a white, stucco fence and their next door neighbor to the left was the beach. My uncle was a podiatrist who swam laps in the ocean in all kinds of weather. My aunt was a fiery, redhead with a big red, lipsticked smile. I can still hear her voice now. Their home was magical: it had all the hiding places my house lacked and contained trinkets and tchotchkes galore. A kid could get lost there, easily.

Beach people live by a different code from us suburb folk. When I saw Eileen & Mark's Venice Beach home on The Selby, I was immediately brought back to my younger days exploring my Uncle Buddy's house. I'd just love to get lost here, exploring their books, wall hangings & rich designs. While my family hasn't really spoken to them in a while, I'd like to think Buddy's still swimming the ocean while Anna's carefully lining her lips to host some friends for tea.

Their home is to die for...I love the couple's all-denim look in the third photo, the Navaho-inspired pillows, that amazing photo wall, and the breathtaking chandelier.

PS, the Mr. Boddington cards came in time [thank you!!] and I gave one to my boyfriend, not Jake Gyllenhaal, if you can believe it ; ) He loved it, and the smitten kitten thing was perfect because we are thinking about getting a cat together!
